James Blake - A Case of You(Joni Mitchell Cover)

James Blake, fresh off his highly acclaimed LP, James Blake, performed a cover of Joni Mitchell's, "A Case of You" on a BBC interview. James Blake is known for his dubstep and electronic influences, but with this track we see a side of him that isn't as widely known. Blake's mysteriously charming voice drags you into a state of repeat, constantly drawing your mind back to this song, demanding you to listen to it over and over until you catch every captivating lyric, every enthralling vibrato, every delicate falsetto of the beautiful deep bass. His voice fits Mitchell's lyrics so perfectly its impossible to know this is a cover unless you were told so, in which case, this is a cover, if you hadn't already read. ENJOY, because I know I sure am. Check it out below, and check out the original also.

I Need Me Some Pumped Up Kicks - Foster the People

Alright, I've been sitting on this band for a while and have only stuck with their song, "Helena Beat." "Helena Beat" has been my go to dance/chill song for the past 4 months. It is an amazing track that builds you up until it hits the chorus and is as catchy as any song you will hear. Foster the People really grabbed my attention with this track a while back. Then a couple of weeks ago, they came out with a music video for their song, "Pumped Up Kicks," gave it a listen and didn't quite enjoy it, but I kept seeing it pop up on other blogs. So, the more I saw it, the more I read about it, the more rave reviews I read. Some blogs, e.g. Pigs and Planes, said it was one of the defining songs of Summer 2010. Then, It had to be good, I said to myself. Giving the song, and video, another opportunity to redeem itself, I listened and was extremely pleased. The more listens I gave "Pumped Up Kicks" the happier I got. It's a great song that, had I listened to it in the summer, would have defined my summer also. Thank you Foster the People. Enjoy.

Jhameel Just Rocks My Socks

This guy, Jhameel, was born in The United States but looks part Asian and/or Indian. Who knows these days, right? Nonetheless, his music is amazing. When I first played his song over at TBE, Bernal Heights, I was pleasantly surprised and definitely enjoyed his music. I just thought he was another artist I would hear and resort to never listening to again due to all the new music that is spread around the internet today. When the song ended, I switched over to the next song that was posted, How Many Lovers, and instantly fell in love. This song is catchy and up-beat making you, well at least myself, want to get up and dance like it's nobody's business about what the heck you're doing with your life.

"i wanted you to need me when you made it to manhattan,

call me to tell me how you love me and what happened"

Childish Gambino

This guy, Childish Gambino, I.E Donald Glover, the lead black guy on the show Community, brought out a side of him I never would have thought was inside of him. He comes out strong at the beginning of "Freaks and Geeks" with strong lyrics that catch your ear at once. Enjoy. Thanks P&P.

Welcome, Christian

I would just like to let you know that this is a music blog that i am starting after about, say, 6 months of daily scurrying other music blogs. I have been learning about new rappers and singers on the daily and grow more musically involved every day. I'm excited to finally bring my own name to the game. NIG.
How is that for an introduction?
