Quick Fix

Although it is not warming up where I am, it is warming up somewhere and in joyous celebration I have some quick picks that may or may not remind you of the distant winter, or the not so distant. Really this is just some picks that I have been enjoying lately and I would like to share them. Don't hate, enjoy.

The Morning Benders - Mother and Child Reunion(Paul Simon cover)

Dream Jefferson - The Ghosts of San Simeon

Frankmusik - Complete Me

Norwegian Recycling - Lights

P.S. - And yes, that picture is what I am looking at right now. Basically. I got it off the internet. It is of the city that I am in. Same thing, right?

Wolf Gang - Suego Faults sampler

Here is a sample from Wolf Gang's upcoming album to be released on June 27th. Without a doubt it is one of my most anticipated albums ever since I first heard "The King And All of His Men" back last summer. The version here is a different one than what I heard so long ago. I like this version better. O_o. Enjoy! I know I am...

Swedish House Mafia - Save The World Tonight

Save The World Tonight sounds like your typical poser douche bag song that would air on the radio every other play. When you listen to it all the way through, you realize that it is this way for good reasons, and not for your typical bad ones. Swedish House Mafia bring the beat straight from the beginning. Never letting up until the end, when you think it's over, but it ISN'T! Thank you English radio host. But with this song, they remind me of Shiny Toy Guns, who is ready for some new STG? Huh? I know I am. But SHM, bringing the beat back to your speakers on the double. Enjoy.

Edwin Van Cleef - Lisztomania (feat. Jane Hanley)

Cover of Lisztomania. It starts of great and only gets better. Jane Hanley's voice, I'm assuming, is a magical layer over Van Cleefs beats. At first I was digging the tunes enjoying the song, thinking of how it would actually be a cover of phoenix, then her vocals hit, and I realized that it WAS a cover. and not some cheap rendition. THEN 1:30 hit and I fell in love. She is magical. Magical I say! Mesmerizing? Momentous? Musical? Take your pick at the adjective that starts with M, any will work to describe this song and her voice. Props Van Cleef for picking this chick up to work with you. Nailed yourself a spot on Hypem's "popular" list.

Rubblebucket - Silly Fathers

Rubblebuckets!!!! Sounds like something Mr. Krab would say when he stubs his toe... Oh, that sailor talk. NEVER INDULGE!
Silly Fathers is a freaking awesome song. I have no other words to describe it. The first time I listened to it, I was a bit skeptical, but after listening to a couple other songs, my mind couldn't stop referring to the catchy sample and loops that were used. Trying to figure out where it was that I had first heard the song, I searched my blogroll and finally found it. Oh My Rock laid down this sweet track and I couldn't stop listening. The brass and loops that are used are very catchy with this chick, or guys, voice(sometimes I just can't tell). I now have it on repeat and won't be surprised when it pops up in my Top 25 playlist in iTunes. I just hope you can enjoy it and appreciate it for what it is like I am trying.

Young Digerati - The Dauphin

Reading the title of this song always leads me to think of this:
http://www.kingdom-travel.com/Walt_Disney_World_Resorts/_ResortAssets/Swan_Dolphin/Disney_Swan_Dolphin_RESORT_2.jpg
That is the Walt Disney Dolphin Resort. Weird, I know. Don't stop reading because of it, please.

Now to the song. Young Digerati met in High School. In detention. Yes. Detention. Where else would you want to form a bad A band like this? I wouldn't want to do it anywhere else. These guys are based out of San Francisco. YES. Our very own San Fran here in the states. When listening please listen to the synth in the background right from the beginning and the sweet Chromeo-esque drop at 1:15.
Enjoy.

Portal 2?

Portal 2 comes out in a few days and I am STOKED! I didn't play the first portal until a couple of days ago, but I am stoked. One of the main reasons I am so excited is because of this song:
This is the song that is played when you beat the game. I was extremely surprised by the sweetness of this song. I was waiting for a bit more from the game itself, feeling somewhat empty when I destroyed GladOS, hoping for another level. Just one more level to fulfill my desires to conquer the outside world that I KNEW was out there. I didn't get any further gameplay out of it. What I did get out of the end of the game was this song. If more songs are produced like this in Portal 2, with multiplayer? This game will be UNSTOPPABLE.

See ya'll at Gamestop.

Don't forget your cake.

Strange Talk

Eskimo Boy.
Strange Talk.

When you hear them, and when you read about them, you see and hear a mix of Phoenix and Yeasayer. Both two of my favorite bands of the last couple of years and both who have, in my eyes, changed the way we choose music.
Strange Talk brings in their synths and catchy vocals right from the beginning, starting you off at a good position in the song. When the chorus hits, it left me kinda confused and really hoping for more. They did not disappoint. After the first quarter of the chorus, it hits you with yet another catchy hook, making it unbearable to not bob your head.

Good work, Strange Talk.
